The quality that identifies any disease is based on the deviation from what is considered as the â€Å"norm†. This biological norm constitutes a healthy body with no serious damage that can affect daily life. A disease is objectified in which, health professionals are able to see, touch, measure, and/or smell symptoms that are indicative of a disease. Different diseases have different variations and intensities in the symptoms they exhibit as well as having different effects in deviation. Diseases, however, are different than both illness and sickness. Illness, is the personal experience of being unhealthy. In many cases, illness is accompanied by disease, however the disease could be unknown at the time, usually due to it being in its very early stages. Sickness is the public’s view on being unhealthy and is external. Sickness can be considered as a social role, or even a status, that is handed to a person considered as â€Å"sick†.
